As I've gotten older, I have found new joys in Christmas. The look on my kids' faces on Christmas morning or the quiet moments by the tree with a fire. But I've also felt the weight of an empty seat around the table. I've seen a family break apart. I've seen a friend hang a stocking for a child that went to be with Jesus. Christmas is a beautiful time but it can also be lonely and difficult for so many. I'm sure each and every one of us has a loved one who is going through something difficult this year. Making the kids rooms ready for Christmas brings a whole other level to the wonder of the season.
